Travel Press Raves about Hotel Aguas Claras

Hotel Aguas Claras in Puerto Viejo de Limon officially opened its doors in October of 2018. After a beautiful opening night surrounded by local and international friends and family, musicians, artists and lots of Caribbean food, the Hotel has been published in several magazines including Vogue US, Elle Germany, Flaunt Magazine and soon in a special issue of Conde Nast Travel that will be released in April 2019.

The Hotel is a little piece of Victorian / Caribbean gold with a retro-modern twist in a jungle garden, curated by its owners, Mother and Daughter Elizabeth and Elena.  They have collaborated with many of their local artist friends to create the Hotels interiors and amenities. 

There are 6 suites with a lovely outdoor shower terrace, 6 bungalows of different sizes, a pool and restaurant called Papaya Room with great dishes of local flavors and a yoga shala called Casa Gandhi. All the compound is inside a lush jungle garden with many bird species, iguanas, butterflies, sloths and other exotic animals you might be lucky to find. 

The Hotel aims to give its guests the taste of the real Caribbean culture and local art. With this in mind, the Hotel has done several collaborations with local and international musicians, such as the old-school calypso band “Kawe”, Californian surf rock band “Allah-Las” and French actress and singer Soko (Stephanie Sokolinski). They have also hosted an art workshop with the kids of the community ran by Federico Herrero (Costa Rican renowned artist) and have done several projects with biologist, bird watchers and botanists to enhance and learn about their jungle gardens and species.

Aguas Claras Joins the Collection
The Hotel Aguas Claras has joined the collection of unique hotels and adventure parks, offering visitors, Travel Agents and Tour Operators a new luxury option in the Costa Rican Caribbean Shores in Puerto Viejo de Limon.

True calm, privacy, comfort,tropical bliss. Nature greets us with open arms and we build on that gift to share it with you.  Aguas Claras has been a healing space for many visitors in the past, and as we prepare to re-open our doors in October 2018, we are looking forward to continue that legacy as a transformative experience for those seeking clarity and rest through the sense awakening properties of the tropical rainforest.

All of our 6 bungalows are modernized Caribbean-Victorian style houses, with recycled or re-used objects and furniture, surrounded by exquisite vegetation that also ensures absolute privacy and a worry-free stay, they all have everything you need for a renewing vacation. Pavlova Sweets is a Victorian Row House in a complex strip near the pool and restaurant area. It has 5 rooms with king size beds and 1 room with 2 double beds. Each room has its own mini bar, desk, a sofa, small living room table and an outdoor shower within a private wooden lounge area, as part of its unique individual Moroccan style semi-open terrace.

Through an atmosphere that reflects the hotel's barefoot luxury concept, we designed our restaurant as laid back space, with an innovative menu that explores the best of Caribbean cuisine fused with flavors of the world, using fresh local ingredients. Located next to the pool, it’s main goal is for guests to be able to relax completely surrounded by nature, while they sip on the special cocktails made by our mixologist.

Casa Gandhi is our wellness center. In it you can enjoy daily Yoga lessons, private classes per reservation, and in general, an ideal space to meditate or practice other disciplines such as Tai Chi Chuan, Qi Gong, martial arts, etc.  It can also be used for small events, with a capacity for 30 people and complete audiovisual equipment. Right next to Casa Gandhi, we have our little spa, where you can unwind to complete leisure with the treat of your choice: massages, deep cleansing facials, exfoliant and body wrapping treatments, among others.
